An interview with Charles Rennie Mackintosh
For weblog class this week we have to interview an historic person i have chosen Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Born in Glasgow on 7 June 1868, He was apprenticed to a local architect John Hutchison, but in 1889 he transferred to the larger, more established city practice of Honeyman and Keppie.Hi how are you Mr Mackintosh?
Hi I'm fine thanks please call me Charles
OK Charles how was your childhood?
Well when i was a child i walked with a limp and i developed a problem with my right eye which caused it to droop. Because of these disabilities i was encouraged to spend time in the countryside when i was young.
And how was that?
It was really good the countryside is one of my many artistic influences
And your other influences are?
Well my travels around Europe helped feed my influences i also like Japanese art style
How did you get into architecture?
Ah well i enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art at the age of fifteen. A year later i joined John Hutchison architectural practice to train as a draughtsman. And then After completing my apprenticeship i moved to Honeymann and Keppie in 1889. In 1890 i won the coveted 'Alexander Thomson Travelling Studentship' for Public Design. With my prize of £60 i decided to travel to Italy and Europe.
Ah so thats when you got the insperation for your work i take it
Yes it was a good trip seeing italy and the rest of Europe
Well thank you for your time charles its been good talking to you
Thank you for having me here
Commonwealth Games
As most people know glasgow won the bid to host the 2014 commonwealth games. And I think this is a good thing it will bring alot more revenue to here and that will be good for our economy and business's and also the athletes a chance to see scotland. Although im not an athletics fan i think this is a good thing for scotland

The Shutting Down of British Blogs
For weblogs class we have been told to investigate about the shutting down of some British blog sites because of libel and asked what laws were broken because of what was said in Craig Murray’s political blog about Alisher Usmanov’s character. He was motivated to do so because of Mr Usmanov’s investment in arsenal football club. The statements in his blog were about the torture of prisoners for information in Uzbekistan. This next paragraph was copied from wikipedia.
He wrote in 2003 In a letter to his employers, in response to a speech by George W. Bush, "when it comes to the Karimov regime, systematic torture and rape appear to be treated as peccadilloes, not to affect the relationship and to be downplayed in the international fora ... I hope that once the present crisis is over we will make plain to the U.S., at senior level, our serious concern over their policy in Uzbekistan.
This shows his opinion about Mr Usmanov and here is a link to some of Craig Murray’s blogs that have been reposted Craig's reposts
And even when Mr Usmanov’s lawyers threatened to sue the blog sites if they didn’t take all the posts off Craig Murray welcomed his lawyers to come after him which the never pursued any case against him which in my personal opinion looks a bit strange. So this leads me to believe there is maybe truth in what Craig Murray is saying.

Today in college
In weblogs we watched a documentry on BBC radio 1 although i aint a fan of them i prefer northsound myself i noticed that alot of work goes into the making of radio 1 shows they have to plan what songs are played at the right times the only have a set amount of times a day they can play 35 popular chart hits a day so they have to choose wisely for the audience.
The Show's
Chris Moyels Breakfast Show 6:30AM till 10AM
jo whiley 10AM till 12:45PM Newsbeat till 1PM
Edith Bowman 1PM till 4PM
Sara Cox 4PM till 7PM Newsbeat at 5:45PM
Zane Lowe 7PM till 9PM
Club DJ's 9PM till 10PM (a different DJ everyday Throughout the week)
Colin Murray 10PM till 12AM
For all the listings go to BBC Radio 1
They also have the live lounge were artist's can perform live tracks on air. most of the music on radio one during the day is chart orientated but when Zane Lowe's Show starts the music is more specialised from Rock to RnB
